Chocolate- the kryptonite of many a woman.

We all like chocolate. If you just said you don’t- well sorry, but I LOVE chocolate. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to eat a delicious chocolate morsel without feeling guilty about it? Well, now we can! Some amazing scientists have proven that chocolate can do some amazing things.

Reduces the Risk of Heart Disease

You’ve gotta love Canadians- thanks to Canadian scientist who discovered that individuals who eat up to 100 grams of chocolate a day, are 22% less likely to suffer from a stroke. Other studies have shown, snacking on chocolate can lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Prevent Memory Loss

A simple piece of dark chocolate will improve the blood flow to the brain and prevent damage to nerve pathways associated with Alzheimer’s.

Bad Moods and Anxiety

Whenever I feel down in the dumps, I always crave chocolate. Maybe there’s a reason. Dark chocolate contains magnesium and caffeine. Scientists have discovered that magnesium can noticeably improve anxiety. Small amounts of caffeine can help you relax- avoid high doses of caffeine which can cause worse anxiety.

Improved Fitness

Everyone has their own fitness niche. For instance, I enjoy weight training and cardio with some toddler chasing thrown in. Dark chocolate containing epicatechin (a flavanol) increases the body’s production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps your body train harder for longer periods of time.
